Here at the beginning of the school year, we have been reviewing proper book care in our library classes. To go along with this theme, first grade heard a story all about a book that eats people. Can you believe it? A book that eats people? The story reminded students that they should always have clean hands when reading a book and that their library books should not be left alone with little brothers or sisters. Want to know more about this book that eats people? If so, check out the book trailer below.
Each year North Carolina releases a list of books that have been nominated for the North Carolina Children's Book Award. Last year's winner was a book written by Jory John called Quit Calling Me a Monster. Not only did the book win the popular student vote across the state, it was a student favorite here at Southwest as well. Well, this year's nominees have been announced and Jory John is back with another book that I'm sure the students will like. This one is called The Bad Seed. How bad is he you ask? He has a bad temper, a bad attitude, and bad manners. Click on the video below to learn a little more about The Bad Seed.

About me . . .
Formerly a classroom teacher. Currently a School Library Media Coordinator. I loved being in the classroom, but now that I am in the library I can't imagine doing anything else! The library is my favorite place to be. From my rocking chair to my ABC rug to the smiling student faces checking out books, the library just can't be beat!
Learning in the Library
I have a fixed schedule in my library which means I get to see all the students in my library classes each week. This blog highlights some of the things we are learning and some of the great things going on in our library!
