It is Student Council election time here at Southwest. Each year students in grades three through five run for spots on our Rotary Club sponsored Student Council. The students write speeches, read them aloud during morning announcements, and place election posters around the school. It is a very exciting time for these students and, each year, our elected representatives do a great job of completing service projects for our school. So, as I was walking down the hall the other day, I noticed this poster on the wall. This young lady is one of my library assistants, like her older sister before her, and I just happened to notice that one of the talking points of her campaign was the need for more library books. I noticed that a couple of students mentioned the need for more books for the library when they were making their speeches each morning. If I had a vote, which I don't, I think I know who I would have to vote for! Good luck Miriam!

About me . . .Formerly a classroom teacher. Currently a School Library Media Coordinator. I loved being in the classroom, but now that I am in the library I can't imagine doing anything else! The library is my favorite place to be. From my rocking chair to my ABC rug to the smiling student faces checking out books, the library just can't be beat! Archives
