Peter H. Reynolds
Hey there Lion Cubs! Happy Monday! Welcome back for another edition of Long Distance Library. Today we are going to be celebrating another of our favorite children's authors. His name is Peter H. Reynolds and he is the author of The Dot, Ish, Word Collector, and many more. Many of us celebrate his book The Dot on International Dot Day, where we are all encouraged to make our mark just like Vashti does in the book. Peter's books have inspired children all over the world. His book Word Collector was even chosen as a North Carolina Children's Book Award nominee this past year. Today we are going to have a couple of read alouds from Peter H. Reynolds himself. First up we have a read aloud of Be You! and that's followed by a read aloud of The North Star. Click here for my daily video and then let's get started!
We are starting off our Peter H. Reynolds celebration with a read aloud by the author himself. Here, Peter reads aloud his book Be You! This book is a joyful reminder of the ways that each of us is unique and special. Peter encourages us to be our own work of art. We should be patient, persistent, and true because there is one, and only one, you. Click here to see Peter H. Reynolds read aloud his book Be You!

How about another read aloud from Peter H. Reynolds? This time he is going to read aloud his book The North Star. With his mind full of questions about the world around him, a little boy sets off on a journey. But there are so many paths he could take, so many signs showing different directions. But when the going gets tough and he begins to feel lost, the little boy meets a wise bird who shares a vital piece of wisdom. This is another classic Peter H. Reynolds book with an inspiring message to observe, to wonder, and to consider diverging from the well-worn path to pursue our dreams - no matter where it may take us. Click the play symbol on the video on the left to hear Peter H. Reynolds read aloud his book The North Star.

We have another read aloud today for our Peter H. Reynolds celebration. This time he is not the author of the book, but rather the illustrator. This book, written by Susan Verde, and illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds, is called I Am Peace. This book reminds us that when the world feels crazy, we can find peace within through mindfulness. We can express emotions through direct speech. Find empathy through imagination. Wonder at the beauty of the natural world. Breathe, taste, smell, touch, and be present. Click here to go to KidLit TV to see the author, Susan Verde, read aloud her book I Am Peace.
We are going to wrap up our Peter H. Reynolds celebration today with a trip to Storytime with Ryan and Craig. Ryan and Craig have four different Peter H. Reynolds books on their read aloud page. They have The Dot, Ish, Say Something!, and Happy Dreamer. Choose one to watch . . . or watch them all! I love The Dot. That one and The Word Collector are two of my favorites, but I really liked Happy Dreamer, too. All of Peter's books remind us that we are special and unique, that we should not be afraid to say something, and that in all of us lies a happy dreamer! Click here to go to the read aloud page for Storytime with Ryan and Craig. Or you can click the links under each book below to go straight to that story. Sit back, relax, and enjoy some uplifting stories from Peter H. Reynolds.
