Cave Boys
Hey Lion Cubs! Happy Thursday and welcome back for another edition of Long Distance Library! Today's theme is all about cave boys and dinosaurs. This is going to be fun. We're going to start off with a read aloud of the book Tek, The Modern Cave Boy which is written and illustrated by Patrick McDonnell. He is going to read his book aloud for us below. So, grab your favorite dinosaur, settle back in your cave, and let's get started! |
How about another book about a cave boy today? This cave boy is named Tek and he is the main character in the book Tek, The Modern Cave Boy which is written and illustrated by Patrick McDonnell. Tek just will not come out of his cave because he is too connected to his tech devices. His parents try to get him out. His dinosaur friend Larry tries to get him out. Unfortunately, they just aren't having any luck. Click here to see author Patrick McDonnell read Tek's story on KidLit TV. I wonder if Tek will ever come out of that cave. Read along with Tek and find out. |
I really liked the story of Tek, The Modern Cave Boy so I thought I would like to learn a little more about the author Patrick McDonnell. Click here to see an interview with Patrick McDonnell, also from KitLit TV. I didn't know, before watching the interview, that Patrick wrote another book that I really like. It's a book I have in my office in the library. It's called A Perfectly Messed-Up Story. I have read it with kindergarteners when talking about book care. I was so excited to make that connection when watching his interview. I hope you will watch, too. |
Ok, one last recommendation for today. In honor of Tek's dinosaur friend Larry, we have a dinosaur story from Storytime with Ryan and Craig. This one is called Dinosaurs Love Underpants! The dinosaurs in this story will do just about anything to get their hands, or claws, on some underpants. I see some cave boys in there as well! Click here to hear Ryan and Craig read aloud the story Dinosaurs Love Underpants - and maybe we'll even find out why the dinosaurs became extinct! |
